The Arbella nearly fell within the aegis of the Lutine Bell due to lack of adequate filtration. The Little Orphan Children have therefore had recourse to the Local Yokel Pig Pond-scum (παλίμπρατος--cf., Philo, 2-523), which may be accessed with impunity.

The stamp design was based on a 1533 portrait of Luther by Lucas Cranach. The stamp has face value of 20 cents. Stamp info

The diagram below the Luther stamps is an Ewald Sphere, a geometric construction used in electron, neutron, and X-ray crystallography which demonstrates the relationship between:

  • The wavevector of the incident and diffracted x-ray beams,
  • The diffraction angle for a given reflection,
  • The reciprocal lattice of the crystal

It was conceived by Paul Peter Ewald, a German physicist and crystallographer. Ewald himself spoke of the "sphere of reflection." The smaller overlapping sphere may be an orientation sphere, which shows the correct orientation of rays to diffract. Wikipedia

Below the Ewald Sphere is an image of a hand holding a globe.

Leitmotiv

Leitmotiv: "Constantine's accession turned prophesy into history."

This quote is drawn from "Christianity and the Transformation of the Book: Origen, Eusebius, and the Library of Caesarea," a 2006 book published by Anthony Grafton and Megan Hale Williams. Google Books

A final point has to do with the world outside Eusebius' library. It seems likely that his elegant books served a particular purpose in the economy of relations between Caesarea and its emperor. When Eusebius drafted the Chronicle, its vision of all history culminating in the Roman Empire was only an alluring prophecy—at least from the Christian standpoint. But Constantine's accession turned prophecy into history. By making special books that drew on his scholarly efforts to celebrate Constantine's achievement and to serve his needs, Eusebius won the interest and gratitude of his ruler. Scholarship enabled him to attain the results that effective eloquence—which he also possessed—had won for the provincial elites of earlier centuries.

Eusebius of Caesarea was a Greek historian of Christianity during the Constantinian period of Rome. A favorite of Constantine, Eusebius wrote the Chronicle, a groundbreaking work that provided chronological tables from the earliest times of the Roman Empire up to the reign of Constantine. The Chronicle was published around 325 A.D. He also wrote frequently about the historical importance and accomplishments of his emperor, further cementing his place as a favored scholar and supporting the legacy of his ruler.

  • Lutine Bell - The Lutine (later HMS Lutine) was a frigate which served in both the French Navy and the Royal Navy. Launched in 1779, the Lutine passed into British hands in 1793. In 1799, it sank off the Dutch coast while carrying a large shipment of gold, which was never fully recovered. The ship's bell was salvaged and preserved by Lloyd's of London, who use it for ceremonial purposes at their headquarters. It was traditionally struck when a ship was overdue—one time for a lost ship (bad news) and two times for a ship's return (good news). Lloyd's stopped using the bell regularly in 1989 after it developed a crack, but now ring on only two occasions: the death of a royal, or a large disaster. The bell is engraved "ST. The algorithm described by AES is a symmetric-key algorithm, meaning the same key is used for both encrypting and decrypting the data. Wikipedia
