The Leitmotiv appears to be attributed to São Jerônimo (Saint Jerome) but is actually a quote from Jewish-Greek philosopher Philo (20 BCE - 50 CE). The quote precedes his comments on Leviticus 8:29 and 9:14, in which he shows that small details of Mosaic Law were important and intended to teach the principles of living a morally upright life.
